Things I like

One of my goals is to share with you things I like and things that have helped prepare me for my travels. I will be continually adding to this page so check back often.

YouTube Channels
I love watching YouTube for inspiration for my own travels. It is such a joy to watch people discover the world. Here are some of my favorite YouTube channels that have inspired me.

Kara & Nate – They have been my biggest inspirations. Their videos are amazing and I have learned a lot from them.

Mikey Chen – This guy eats like I wish I could. SOOOOO much good food in the world.

Minority Nomad I appreciate his critical lens. We have to think more about who gets easy access to travel and who does not.

Randy Rainbow – Because I am lefty and I like to laugh. #SorryNotSorry

Blogs – There are some great voices out there sharing their life and travel experiences.

Bani Amor – An excellent critical voice. Centers issues of identity and equity related to travel, also has a great Facebook Page #DecolonizingTravelCulture

Kara & Nate – No surprise this super couple does an amazing blog in addition to the wonderful YouTube page.

Grateful Gypsies – I have been in a Location Indie Master Mind group with Rachel for over a year and she has been a great supporter of my journey. If you are interested in teaching English online this is the blog to check out! She recently finished a whole course on how to be successful.

Products – My goal in this section is to be as honest as possible based on my experience. Unless specifically noted these are just my opinions and they are not an affiliate link that makes me money (don’t get me wrong I hope to someday have affiliate links but when I do I will be transparent).

Allbirds – The BEST travel shoes ever (at least in my opinion). They are very comfortable, washable, and the company has a good sustainability ethic.

New Allbirds for DeeDee and me, May 2019

quip – This is one of those times where you can help yourself and help me if you use the link provided and buy a quip toothbrush I get a free refill (if link does not work the discount code is lance850537901842). I love my quip toothbrush! I have enjoyed using it for the past 6 months but after a great trip to the dentist where my gums were as healthy as they have been in some time I am now fully hooked!

Lodging I will share some or my favorite places to stay and some of my favorite resources to book lodging.

Airbnb – I said I would be transparent and this is one of those times. The link for Airbnb is for first time users. If you sign up for an account and complete a stay I get a $30 credit. Lodging is one of my biggest expenses so this is really helpful for me. In addition to that I really do love Airbnb. I have a had great luck using the service and found great places to stay. I suggest using the Super Host filter for your first few stays as I think their is less risk with these hosts.

Hilton – I am loyal to Hilton for a lot of reasons. First, I think the Hilton Honors program is excellent. With the points DeeDee and I have saved up we were able to book 6 nights at the Conrad Koh Samui next December…it is a bucket list trip and I can’t wait. Next we own with Hilton Grand Vacation Club, I realize that timeshares are not for everyone but this has been great for us. I am happy to share more if anyone is interested. I will be staying in a lot of Hilton properties on my trip so I will highlight them here and on my Facebook Page.

Fort Collins, Colorado – I love to travel but I also love the place I call home. I want to share some of my favorite things about FoCo and who knows maybe it will end up on your travel bucket list.

Jay’s Bistro – This is one of my favorite places in Fort Collins for an excellent meal and a great drink. What I love even more than the great food and drink is the wonderful people who work at Jay’s and make is so special. Stop by and tell Colin, Sam, Melissa & Ray that Lance says hi. Special insider’s tip there is a yummy drink at the bar if Ray or Melissa are working called “The Lance”.

Just looking at this makes me smile.
